DR. MAROLA

Dr.Marola is a graduate of St. Peter’s College in Jersey City, New Jersey.  He studied medicine at the University of Padua and received a degree in medicine and surgery from the University of Bologna. He completed his internship and residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Ellis Hospital. 

In 1966, he founded Schenectady OB/GYN Associates (SOGA).  In October 2000, he became an associate with Mondragon McGrinder Medical Associates.

Dr. Marola is a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology.  He is former Chairman of the Department of OB/GYN at St. Clare’s Hospital and former President of the Teen Pregnancy Network of Schenectady.

He has been married for 38 years to Susan Marola.   They have eight children, twenty grandchildren and 2 great grand children.

With Dr. Nicholas Montalto he wrote a fantasy story of Columbus and Isabella.  It became a musical and played in Sicily, Calabria and Rome in 1992. With twenty two patients he wrote “Do I Miss My Uterus?”, their stories about their hysterectomies. In 2006 he published “The Miracle on Troy Road”, the story of Bellevue’s rise to excellence in women’s care. He is presently working on the book “Cugini”, which describes the establishment of his life long relationship with his Italian relatives, especially his four first cousins.

Aside from practicing medicine and writing, Dr. Marola’s passions include cooking, Italian Opera, WWII history, skiing, college football and spending time with his family.
